Police have announced an arrest in connection to the Lowell, Massachusetts stabbing that left a 47-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.
Brandon Sanchez, 23, of Lowell, was arrested Saturday in connection to the Aug. 19 stabbing, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. The suspect was arrested in Hudson and faces a charge of armed assault with intent to murder.
The stabbing happening outside a liquor store near Bridge Street and the wounded victim went to a nearby 7-Eleven store for help, leaving behind a trail of blood. A preliminary investigation determined Sanchez and the victim were involved in an altercation that led up to the stabbing.
Following the violent incident, the convenience store was closed for several hours as authorities assessed the scene for their investigation.
The victim was flown to a Boston-area hospital, where he underwent surgery. His current condition is unclear.
Sanchez is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
