Arrests Made in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Vermont

Arrests have been made in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Vermont on Saturday morning.

Gary Hale, 41, of Lyndonville is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. His passenger, Katrina Haslam, 47, is charged with accessory after the fact.

The fatal accident happened on U.S. Route 5 shortly before 8 a.m. Police later identified the victim as 46-year-old Mattie Lynn Hale of Lyndon. Hale was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, evidence at the scene suggested that the suspects were driving a silver Ford Fiesta at the time of the crash. Troopers later located a Ford Fiesta with heavy front end damage at an apartment complex in Lyndonville.

Gary Hale and Haslam were found at a nearby residence, according to police.

Hale is being held at the Northeast Correctional Facility on $15,000 bail. Haslam was released with a citation.

Both will appear in Caledonia Superior Court on Monday.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
