A New Hampshire man is facing a number of charges after police in Manchester say he attempted to rob a convenience store with a bat before fleeing the scene early Tuesday morning.

Jonathan Grant, 28, of Manchester, was taken into custody later in the day on an unrelated drug charge.

Police said officers had responded to a call just before 5 a.m. for an attempted armed robbery at the 7-Eleven on Queen City Avenue.

Officials said the attempted robber demanded money from the store’s clerk and brandished a baseball bat. When the employee refused, the man fled the scene empty handed and ran toward Brown Avenue.

Also Tuesday morning, Goffstown Police said the Cumberland Farms on Mast Road was robbed after being hit on Monday. In both instances, an undetermined amount of cash was taken.

Through an investigation, police were able to connect Grant to the three robberies and arrest him.

Grant was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of possession of a controlled drug. He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday in Hillsborough Superior Court – North on the robbery charges. It's unclear if Grant has an attorney.
