    Police: Standoff Ends After Barricaded Man Surrenders

    An hourslong standoff ended Saturday evening after a man who was barricaded inside a Massachusetts home surrendered, police say.

    State and local police responded around 11:30 a.m. to Harold Bishop Boulevard in North Attleboro, where they say an armed man would not come out.

    State police's STOP team and a crisis negotiator were on the scene.

    Police said around 8:30 p.m. that the man had surrendered and authorities had secured the weapon he had.

    Some Leavenworth County, Kansas, officials are calling for Commissioner Louis Klemp's resignation after he insulted a black woman who had just presented a land-use study to the commission. "I don't want you to think I am picking on you because we are part of the master race. You have a gap in your teeth. We are part of the master race, don't you forget that," Klemp said.
