Authorities say a woman who was out hiking fell and apparently drowned at Purgatory Falls near Lyndeborough, New Hampshire.
They say it happened Sunday afternoon.
The woman's name has not been released.
Fish and Game Department officers said she was wearing ice cleats to improve her traction on slippery surfaces on the steep, rocky terrain covered in ice.
