Boston Police Searching for Dog That Was in SUV When It Was Stolen

Chief is a 7-year-old yellow lab who needs medication and prescription food

Boston Police are looking for the person who stole an SUV with a yellow lab in the backseat on Sunday.

The dog's name is Chief. He is 7 years old and weighs 80 pounds. The lab is microchipped, wearing a collar and tags, according to a Missing Dogs Massachusetts Facebook post.

Harbor Hounds, a dog day care center in Boston, says Chief needs medication and prescription food because of severe allergies.

Boston Police confirm a police report was filed.

They say the dog was in a white Hyundai SUV when it was taken from East Boston in Orient Heights.

Harbor Hounds says the SUV belonged to one of their clients.

They ask the public to please keep an eye out and call 617-970-6600 if anyone sees or hears anything.

Harbor Hounds says Chief is "beyond friendly and will come if you call him."

The Hyundai Santa Fe that was stolen has a sticker of the Italian flag on the back with license plate number 6ZG441.

The dog day care center provided an update on their Facebook page Sunday evening, saying, "Still no updates for Chief. We have continued to search and will keep doing so. Thank you to everyone who has shared and who has joined the search tirelessly to bring Chief home, this is what family is for!"
