    Authorities Investigating 2 Fires in Stowe

    Authorities are investigating a fire that broke out at Stowe Free Library Saturday night.

    According to officials in Stowe, Vermont, the first fire alarm at the Stowe Free Library at 90 Pond Street came in just after 11 p.m. Saturday night.

    The first firefighter on scene was able to put out the flames using a fire extinguisher.

    Another fire was then observed at the back of the building at 638 South Main Street.

    Police released footage captured on two officers' body cameras during the seven-minute arrest of a 12-year-old boy in Sacramento.

    The Vermont Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit was contacted to investigate the origin and cause of the two fires.

    According to authorities, they determined the fire on Pond Street started on the exterior of the building near a window sill. The damage from the fire is considered minimal with a damage estimate of about $10,000.

    Authorities began investigating the fire at 638 South Main Street early Sunday morning and determined that it too was started on the exterior of the building in the back. The fire burned upwards from the basement level and spread to the roof and interior of the building.

    According to officials, the building is considered a total loss, and all five businesses will be unable to operate out of the structure.

    The investigations into the causes of the two fires are ongoing.
