Rep. Ayanna Pressley Introduces Resolution to Impeach Justice Brett Kavanaugh

"Sexual predators do not deserve a seat on the nation’s highest court and Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation process set a dangerous precedent," Pressley said in a statement

Rep. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts said she introduced an impeachment resolution Tuesday against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh after a new report of sexual misconduct.

The resolution calls for an impeachment inquiry into Kavanaugh following a New York Times story that detailed a new allegation of sexual misconduct.

"We believe survivors, and we will continue to resist, mobilize, and legislate to fight for justice and end the culture of sexual violence. That is why I am demanding the impeachment of Brett Kavanaugh now," she wrote in a statement.

The Senate confirmed Kavanaugh last October after emotional, widely watched hearings over an allegation of a sexual assault from his high school years.

The New York Times reported over the weekend that Kavanaugh faced a separate allegation from his time at Yale University and that the FBI did not investigate the claim.

In an editor's note, the Times said the friends of the woman in the latest allegations said she doesn’t recall the assault and that she declined an interview.

Pressley's resolution would allow a committee to take depositions and affidavits as well as issue subpoenas in connection to the inquiry.
