Backpage Killer Sentenced to Life Plus 100 Years

James Adams, 34, reportedly met the victim after seeing her ad for escort services online

A Rhode Island man convicted of murdering a woman he met online was sentenced to life in prison plus 100 years on Friday.

According to WJAR-TV, James Adams, 34, of Warwick, met the victim, Mary Grier, on July 15, 2012, after seeing her advertisement for escort services on the online classified site Backpage. Grier's body was found five days later in a Cranston garage that Adams was renting. Prosecutors claimed Adams strangled her to death.

Adams was also convicted of three other charges against women, including raping and robbing a woman he met in a nightclub and assaulting another Backpage escort.

He has the right to appeal his sentence.
