Beekeepers Remove Gigantic Beehive From Mass. Furniture Warehouse

The beekeepers found more than 100 pounds of honey in the hive.

Two beekeepers have extracted roughly 100,000 bees from a giant hive in a wall on the third floor of a Massachusetts furniture store's warehouse.

The Berkshire Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/1P8XzFw ) the pair has worked this week to remove the nest that filled a bay window at Pittsfield Furniture's warehouse. The hive was likely several years old.

Richard Clapper and Ed Neumuth worked in stages, vacuuming up bees by the tens of thousands and discharging the creatures into beekeeping boxes. The pair planned to finish the job Friday.

The beekeepers found more than 100 pounds of honey in the hive. It was so much that Clapper was giving away honey fresh from the hive in jars to store employees.

The bees are headed now to a home on Neumuth's property.
