Ben & Jerry's Plans $31M Vermont Expansion, Will Add 65 Jobs

The project would generate almost $600,000 in property taxes

Ben & Jerry's is planning a nearly $31 million expansion of its St. Albans manufacturing facility, a move it says will add 65 more jobs.

The St. Albans Messenger reports the ice cream company's Act 250 land-use filing says it's proposing an additional 30,560 square feet of buildings, additional parking and the construction of a pedestrian sidewalk.

The project is expected to increase lot coverage on the company's 42-acre site in the St. Albans Town Industrial Park to 44 percent.

The filing says the project would generate almost $593,000 in property taxes.

A hearing won't be held on the Act 250 application unless there are objections by an adjoining property owner or another qualified party by Oct. 14.
