Berlin Police Warn About Dangers of Texting and Driving After 2 Crashes in Same Spot

Authorities in a Massachusetts town are urging drivers to remain focused on the road after dramatic footage captured a car crashing into a pole due to distracted driving.

Berlin police posted on Facebook Monday a video of the July 23 crash, in which a car can be seen driving into a utility pole. The impact caused the vehicle to roll over on the two-lane road, where other motorists were driving.

"Please use this as a self reminder, or to show your family & friends," Berlin police said in their Facebook post. "The text, email, Facebook, Snapchat Message can wait- it is not worth your life or the life of another person.

Authorities said the driver of the car was given a citation for texting and driving. They said the operator only suffered minor injuries.

A day later, however, another car crashed into the same pole, Berlin police said. The driver in the second crash was extricated from the vehicle and hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

It is unclear what caused the second crash or if the driver will be cited.
