Bicyclist Sent to Hospital After Accident With Car in New Haven

A bicyclist in New Haven was sent to the hospital after an accident with a car.

A bicyclist was walking their bike in the vicinity of the crosswalk across Temple Street when she was hit by a car, the New Haven Safety Communications Center said.

"She flew probably a good forty, fifty feet," Ted Greiner, of Wallingford, said. Greiner was driving when he stopped for the bicyclist and then saw her get hit by another car.

"The blood was coming from the left side of her ear because that’s what slid across the pavement."

Witnesses said the woman riding the bike was taken to the hospital by ambulance. She sustained facial injuries and possibly a broken knee but is in stable condition, the communications office said.

The driver stayed at the scene but their identity has not been released.
