U.S. Reps. Katharine Clark and Ayanna Pressley are teaming up to highlight a bill they say is aimed at helping curb workplace harassment and sexual assault.
The two Massachusetts Democrats are planning a press conference on the bill Tuesday at Casa Myrna in Boston.
The bill would take several steps to address workplace harassment and sexual assault including investing in research about the economic impact of workplace harassment, requiring regular reporting on workplace harassment, and ensuring workers have training about what constitutes harassment and what their rights are if they are harassed.
The bill would also end mandatory arbitration and pre-employment non-disclosure agreements and eliminate the tipped minimum wage.
Backers of the bill say tipped workers are disproportionately vulnerable to sexual harassment and discrimination by both clients and supervisors.
