Police in Maine are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a pond.
WCSH-TV reports two men fishing Sunday morning at a pond in Auburn known as "The Basin" discovered the remains floating offshore. Police were called to the scene and later removed the body from the pond.
Following an autopsy and notification of her family, the woman was identified as 34-year-old Jessica Gallant of New Gloucester, according to WCSH-TV.
Auburn Deputy Police Chief Jason Moen said in a statement that the investigation is in the "preliminary stages." No further information was available.
