Boston police said a body was found in the water at Fort Point Channel on Tuesday morning.
The initial call came in around 7:30 a.m.
Boston fire Deputy Chief Mike Ruggere said a passerby saw something in the water that didn't look right and called police. Homicide units responded, and Boston fire was also called in to help retrieve the body.
The body was stuck on something at the bottom, Ruggere said, so dive teams were called in and were able to recover the body.
The incident remains under investigation by police, and there is no word yet on the cause of death.
