Decapitated Body of Teen Found Along Riverbank in Lawrence, Massachusetts

Police are still working to identify the body and determine the cause of death

Police in Lawrence, Massachusetts, found the decapitated body of a teenager along a riverbank Thursday afternoon, and authorities are working to identify the remains.

Investigators were called to the Merrimack River at McCabe Court around 2:45 p.m. and discovered the body.

For hours, crews in boats and on the land searched for the victim's hands. The teen's head was found roughly 30 feet away from his body.

A woman walking her dog first made the discovery and called 911.

While the Essex County District Attorney's Office says the body has not been identified, Carlos Viloria came for answers. He says it's the same place his 16-year-old son, Lee Viloria, was last seen by a friend.

The sophomore at Lawrence High School has been missing since mid-November. Carlos Viloria says it was just last week he searched the area for his son.

A crowd of family and friends of the missing teen gathered there, knowing there is no good ending to the story.

"My fear is that this is someone's son," said family friend Carmen Checo. "I feel bad this is someone's son."
