Body of Missing Swimmer Recovered From Plymouth, Mass. Pond

Fire Chief Ed Bradley says the Cedarville man's body was found approximately 200 feet from the shoreline

Divers have recovered the body of a missing 26-year-old Massachusetts man who jumped into Great Herring Pond in Plymouth earlier this week and never resurfaced.

Fire Chief Ed Bradley says the Cedarville man's body was found approximately 200 feet from the shoreline on Thursday afternoon in 25 feet of water. The identity of the victim was not released.

Members of the Plymouth County Dive and Rescue Team retrieved the body after sonar identified a target shortly before 2:30 p.m.

Police say the victim had been out boating on the pond with friends when he decided to go for a swim around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim, who wasn't wearing a life jacket, went under after a brief struggle and never returned to the surface.
