A popular Boston event for bar patrons and their dogs will continue after discussing health concerns with the city.
The Liberty Hotel announced Monday over Facebook that Yappier Hour, an event which the hotel held at its private outdoor patio where bargoers could bring their dogs while enjoying appetizers and drinks, had been suspended.
The Mayor's office issued a statement Tuesday afternoon.
"Mayor Walsh is very supportive of events like the Liberty Hotel's Yappier Hour. The Inspectional Services Department is meeting with the hotel this afternoon to ensure this long-standing event is able to continue while also complying with state regulations," the statement read.
Nicole Gagnon, a spokesperson for the Liberty Hotel, said the event had been cancelled due to "concerns from the city about serving drinks with dogs present."
The event, which kicked off its ninth season on April 17, usually takes place every Monday and Wednesday from April to October.
"This is a beloved event for both the hotel and Bostonians," said Gagnon.
