Boston Police Request Blood Donations in Wake of Shooting

Here are some locations where people can donate blood

Many have asked the question: "What can we do to help your officers?" The answer: "Please give blood" tweeted the Boston Police Department on Thursday after two of its officers were shot overnight.

The two police officers shot in East Boston on Wednesday night remain in critical but stable condition at Massachusetts General Hospital after receiving blood transfusions.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said blood transfusions were critical in helping to save their lives.

"We realize more than ever the need of stepping forward to the American Red Cross," Evans said. "If it wasn't for the blood that both officers were given quickly last night, I don't think both officers would have survived."
