A person was shot Thursday in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood, and nearby, around the same time, police converged on an apartment complex and took a man into custody.
The victim shot on Caddy Road was taken to a hospital. That person had serious injuries but was expected to survive.
About two miles away, at the Olmsted Green apartment complex, there was a heavy police presence as authorities looked for a suspect in a Dorchester shooting.
Officers were on the property with long guns. At least one could be seen with a riot shield as one of the homes was searched.
Neighbors said they didn't know what was happening or if they should be hiding in their homes. But they were relieved when investigators told them that they had found the person they were looking for.
Authorities did not say if there was any connection between the incidents.
