Boston Police Officer Allegedly Attacked

Boston Police say one of their own was attacked. Police say the officer was leaving a police facility in Roxbury, Massachusetts Tuesday night when 37-year-old Henry Claiborne allegedly walked up and asked to speak with the officer.

When the officer stopped to talk with Claiborne, that's when the suspect allegedly started hitting the officer without warning or provocation.

The officer fought back, and a violent struggle ensued resulting in injuries to the officer.

Claiborne was arrested in the area of 23 Southwood Street after a brief foot pursuit. He was arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.

The injured officer was transported to an area hospital and later released after receiving treatment.
