Boston Police: Officers' Vehicles Targets of Tampering

Two other officers had the tires of their personal vehicles fall off or become dislodged under suspicious circumstances

Boston police say the personal vehicles of at least three officers have been tampered with in the past month, causing potentially dangerous situations.

Police tell the Boston Herald the latest incident occurred Wednesday when an officer noticed that two lug nuts were missing from one of her wheels while the vehicle was in the East Boston station's parking lot.

Two other officers had the tires of their personal vehicles fall off or become dislodged under suspicious circumstances.

An officer was driving his personal vehicle away from a police station on July 15 when the rear left wheel dislodged. Two experts said it appeared the lug nuts were intentionally loosened.

The rear tire of a transit officer's vehicle fell off Aug. 4 while the officer was driving home.
