Boston Police Search for Gunman in Dorchester Quadruple Shooting

The gunman responsible for killing one person in a quadruple shooting in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood remains on the loose as officials continue their search for the person or parties involved.

The shooting happened just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday near 32 Windermere Road when the shooter walked up to a car and opened fire on the four people in the vehicle, according to police. Officials said the shooting was a targeted attack and not a random act of violence.

"A good friend of mine called me and asked me if I was okay because she heard some shooting," said Patricia Sorensen, who lives on Windemere Road. "I just live around the corner. I was trying to get home to find out what was going on."

Authorities said the three surviving victims suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to an area hospital. Their exact conditions remain unclear.

A man, identified Friday as 33-year-old Kevin Brewington of Allston, died at the scene, according to Boston police.

The shooting has left other residents in the neighborhood shaken.

"There's been a shooting like every other day," said Lori Kauffman, who also lives in the neighborhood. "When is something going to happen about it?"

Officials have not released the names of the shooting victims. A description of the gunman was not immediately available.

On Thursday, state and city leaders gathered to mark the 25th anniversary of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute. It was created by Tina Chery, whose son was fatally shot in 1993.

The center supports families of homicide victims in whatever way they can.

The Institute teamed up with Boston's neighborhood trauma team on Thursday to pass out pamphlets that encourage residents to reach out for help if they need it following the shooting.

Anyone with information on the deadly shooting is urged to call Boston Police Homicide Detectives at 617-343-4470. Anonymous tips can be made by calling 1-800-494-TIPS or by texting "TIP" to 27463.
