Boston Police Search for Suspect in Market Robbery

The suspect reportedly got away with $500

Boston police are searching for a suspect who allegedly robbed a market in the city's Roxbury neighborhood.

Police received a call around 2:23 p.m. Sunday for a reported armed robbery at Marcella's Market at the corner of Highland and Marcella streets.

Shop manager Mohammed Isteak says a man wearing all black walked into the store and proceeded to rob the place.

Isteak says the suspect claimed to have a gun and walked away with around $500 all within a minute.

"This tall guy, he covered all face and hand gloves," Isteak said. "He says, 'open the register,' and my uncle he open, and he took all money."

"I don't like that in my neighborhood," customer Rodney Fitzy said.

Fitzy and other customers are standing with the owner and calling out the alleged crook.

"I hope you get caught bro, whoever you are," Fitzy said. "Know what I'm saying? Cause these are good people."

No one was hurt, and police say no weapon was shown.

The robbery is under investigation.
