‘Rainbow Resistance' 2018 Boston Pride Banners Raised

A month before Boston Pride 2018 kicks off, more than a dozen banners were unveiled throughout the city on Monday.

The 20 banners featuring this year's theme, "Rainbow Resistance," were raised on street poles throughout the Back Bay and around City Hall Plaza beginning at 11 a.m.

The banners are being placed along the route of the annual Boston Pride Parade that takes place on Saturday, June 9 at noon.

Pride Week takes place June 1 through June 10.

NBC10 Boston is returning as the official broadcast partner of Pride programming this year. To celebrate the weeklong celebration, NBC10 Boston, necn and Telemundo Boston will air special programming, participate in Pride events and report the latest news about "Boston Pride Week" in their newscasts.

In addition to the banner raising, other Pride Week events include:

  • Flag Raising Ceremony on June 1 at noon on City Hall Plaza
  • AIDS Walk Boston on June 3 at 10 a.m. on Boston Common
  • Boston Pride Festival on June 9 from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. on City Hall Plaza
  • Back Bay Block Party on June 10 from 1 p.m - 9 p.m on St. James Avenue
