Boston Public School Students Walk Out of Classes

This comes after hundreds of students walked out in protest in March

Boston Public School students walked out of classes on Tuesday.

This comes after hundreds of students walked out in protest in March.

They were raising concerns about the budget approved by school committee members. The more than $1 billion proposal reduces special education funds.

"BPS strongly discourages students from missing instructional time in the classroom. Students who participate in a planned walkout on Tuesday, May 17, will be marked absent for any missed classes, and families will receive automated phone messages informing them of any absences," says the school department, according to The Boston Herald.

The City Council has yet to sign off on the budget.

Councilor Tito Jackson has invited students to join the budget hearing on Tuesday.
