Boston Red Sox Pushing #XforASG

Shortstop Xander Bogaerts is currently in fifth place in the fan voting for the final roster spot on the American League All-Star team

The Boston Red Sox are making a big push to get shortstop Xander Bogaerts named to the 2015 American League All-Star team. And Bogaerts is certainly helping his cause with his recent play on the field.

The Red Sox have launched an #XforASG campaign on Twitter, even temporarily changing their Twitter handle to the hashtag.

Bogaerts wasn't chosen for the All-Star team by fans or coaches (Brock Holt was), but he is one of five players on the AL fan ballot for the 34th and final roster spot, along with Kansas City third baseman Mike Moustakas, Detroit outfielder (and former Red Sox player) Yoenis Cespedes, Minnesota second baseman Brian Dozier and Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner.

As of Wednesday morning, Bogaerts was in fifth place in the fan voting, but he did have a huge 3-run single to help lead the Sox to a 4-3 win over Miami on Tuesday night.

There are two ways to vote for Bogaerts - by texting A1 to 89269 or going to RedSox.com/vote. Voting ends Friday afternoon.
