12-Year-Old Boy on Bike Struck by Car in Tolland in Fair Condition

A 12-year-old boy who was hit by a car while he was riding his bike in Tolland on Sunday night has been upgraded from serious condition to fair condiion.

The boy was hit by a 2004 Honda Civic on Burbank Road just after 5:30 p.m. and Tolland Fire Chief John Littell said they found him in the middle of the street near Peter Green Road.

LifeStar medical transport helicopter brought the boy to Connecticut Children's Medical Center. He was in fair condition as of Tuesday evening.

Officials said the boy was with a friend, who was not injured.

The driver of the Civic was not hurt, but police said she went to the hospital to be evaluated.

Burbank Road was shut down for several hours, but has reopened.
