Brookline Animal Hospital Evacuated After Employees Fall Ill

There is no word yet on the cause

The VCA Brookline Animal Hospital in Brookline, Massachusetts was evacuated on Thursday morning after 10 employees started feeling light-headed.

Brookline Police said they were called to the animal hospital at 678 Brookline Ave. for a report of either a gas or an odor leak. Multiple employees were feeling ill.

There is a full hazmat response, involving numerous fire engines and ambulances. Brookline Fire and a state hazmat team are still working to assess the odor.

Pet shelter equipment is ready, but the animals are in a separate wing of the building.

Brookline Avenue is closed at Washington Street, according to police.

So far, no employees have been transported. The employees reportedly started feeling better once they got outside.
