The wait is over for the Boston Bruins, at least when it comes to who their opponent will be in the 2019 Stanley Cup Final.

Following a win over the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference final on Tuesday night, the Bruins will face the St. Louis Blues.

Game 1 between the teams is scheduled for Monday at 8 p.m. at the TD Garden. The game will be broadcast on NBC 10 Boston.

It's a rematch of the 1970 Stanley Cup Final, which the Bruins won, 4-0, on a series-clinching goal from Bobby Orr in Game 4. This will be the first appearance in the Cup Final since then for St. Louis.

The Blues have never won a Cup and are the oldest franchise in the NHL without one. Only the Toronto Maple Leafs have a longer drought than St. Louis, having won their most recent cup the spring before the Blues began play as an expansion team in 1967.

The Bruins and Blues split their regular season meetings this season. The B's won, 5-2, on Jan. 17 at home and lost, 2-1 in a shootout, on Feb. 23 in St. Louis.

One notable storyline to follow will be that of Bruins winger David Backes, who spent the first 10 years of his career with the Blues before signing in Boston as a free agent prior to the 2016-17 season. Backup goalie Jaroslav Halak also spent parts of four seasons with St. Louis earlier this decade.

This will be the fourth matchup between a Boston team and St. Louis team with a championship on the line since the turn of the century. The Patriots defeated the St. Louis Rams to win their first Super Bowl title in 2002, while the Red Sox won the World Series in both 2004 and 2013 vs. the St. Louis Cardinals.
