A gorgeous Sunday with seasonable weather and less wind under a mostly sunny sky early, then clouds increase late evening. Highs in the 20s north and 30s south.
A storm moves to our south late tonight into Monday, so places along the South Coast could see flurries but don’t expect any accumulations out of this system. Overall, Monday will be quiet with a mixture of clouds and sun with highs in the 20s and 30s.
By Tuesday, we will be keeping an eye to an area of low pressure that approaches from the southwest and it will be responsible for a burst of snow across much of the region during the afternoon - just in time for the evening commute - reducing the visibility for drivers and more than likely, schools will have to cancel after school activities. The snow will fall at a steady rate Tuesday night but then, as mild air filters in, Southern New England will transition over to sleet and then rain so the Wednesday morning commute looks wet with puddles on the roads. While Northern New England hits the jackpot once again, with snow falling during the entire event and totals will range between 6 inches to almost 2 feet of snow, especially around Ski Country. The snow will taper off Wednesday afternoon, as the system pulls away.
Valentine’s Day is shaping up to be a treat for those planning a date, seasonable temperatures and mostly sunny conditions for the exception of the mountains where a few snow showers are possible.
By the end of the week, another system will impact the area and this one looks to start as a wintry mix with a transition to rain as highs will be in the mid to upper 40s.
