Police: 6 Juveniles Arrested in Cambridgeside Galleria Disturbance

Police say the crowd was attending an event inside Cambridgeside Galleria when a disturbance broke out

Six juveniles were arrested Monday evening after a crowd for an event inside a Cambridge, Massachusetts, mall caused a disturbance, which lead to the mall being evacuated, according to police.

Police said the crowd of about 1,000 at the Cambridgeside Galleria was there for a 5:30 p.m. meet and greet with Boston Celtics player Jaylen Brown and rapper Desiigner at the Champs Sports store.

Witnesses said when a large crowd formed, several people became excited and then got unruly.

"It all got crazy when they started coming," said Tarek Fatahi. "Everyone saw them coming in. At first it was organized, the lines were organized, and then all of a sudden everyone just started rushing."

Attendee Chris Medina shot video of the crowd jumping up and down.

"Basically it was everybody just raging, good vibes and just partying on I guess in the mall," Medina said.

Scores of police responded and state police say some people became combative and several arrests were made.

Cambridge Police said at some point, some people threw bricks and glass at officers forcing police to use pepper spray to disperse the crowd. A number of people were treated on the scene for exposure to the spray.

Police said a total of 6 juveniles were arrested as a result of the disturbance. The juveniles are facing disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and trespassing charges.

The mall was secured a few hours later and reopened.

Desiigner tweeted later that he was sorry that he never made it inside the mall.
