Driver Injured When Car Crashes Into Post Office on Cape Cod

A driver suffered minor injuries when their car plowed through a Cape Cod post office on Friday afternoon.

Police in Bourne, Massachusetts said they responded to the post office on Main Street in Buzzards Bay shortly after 4 p.m.

The driver, a 72-year-old woman, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries after police say she lost control while pulling into a parking space in front of the post office. One customer was also evaluated for possible injuries but refused transportation to the hospital.

While fire officials say the building sustained structural damage, it will not be condemned. It is expected to reopen Monday after the replacement of the wall and a beam.

The driver, whose name was not released, faces a charge of operating to endanger.
