Car Crashes Into Swansea Funeral Home While Service is Happening

No one inside the funeral home was hurt but two elderly women in the car suffered minor injuries

A car slammed into a funeral home and interrupted a Saturday morning service in Swansea, Massachusetts.

Swansea Fire Chief Eric Hadjer says the car reversed into the front of the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest on Gardners Neck Road.

The car then reversed through another set of doors and ended up in the lobby.

Hadjer says the car struck a gas fireplace in the room adjacent to the funeral service. The gas was immediately shut off.

No one inside was hurt.

Two elderly women in the car were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Chief Hadjer says the outcome of the incident could have been much worse.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
