Car Destroys McDonald's Freezer After Crashing Into Restaurant

No Injuries were reported in the crash

McDonald's patrons and employees in Wakefield, Massachusetts had their breakfast time interrupted when a car crashed into the fast-food restaurant on Wednesday.

Police received a call about the wayward vehicle shortly after 7 a.m. and responded to the McDonald's on Main Street. There, a 2019 Subaru Forrester could be seen lodged in the building with debris scattered.

The driver, reportedly a 67-year-old woman, crashed into a large freezer, destroying about a week's worth of food, according to an employee. Authorities say she was assisted by restaurant employees and was escorted into the restaurant by the time they arrived.

The woman was checked for injuries at the scene and was reported to have no major wounds. She was taken to Winchester Hospital for further evaluation.

No other injuries were reported in the crash and a freezer truck is being deployed to supply food to the restaurant until their freezer is fixed.

The restaurant itself was not impacted and was given clearance to remain open by building and health inspectors.

The crash is under investigation by the Wakefield Police Department.
