Celebration Set for Little League Team in Rhode Island

Warwick, Rhode Island, is getting ready to celebrate a group of local girls who made it all the way to the Little League World Series championship game.

Mayor Scott Avedisian announced Thursday that a community celebration will be held Monday evening in honor of the team at the Warwick North Little League facility at 6 p.m.

The Warwick North Little League 11-and 12-year-old all-stars represented the East Region in the World Series in Portland, Oregon, losing 4-2 to a team from North Carolina on Wednesday in the championship.

The team returned home Thursday.

The team was made up of girls from Warwick and Coventry.
