Warwick, Rhode Island, is getting ready to celebrate a group of local girls who made it all the way to the Little League World Series championship game.
Mayor Scott Avedisian announced Thursday that a community celebration will be held Monday evening in honor of the team at the Warwick North Little League facility at 6 p.m.
The Warwick North Little League 11-and 12-year-old all-stars represented the East Region in the World Series in Portland, Oregon, losing 4-2 to a team from North Carolina on Wednesday in the championship.
The team returned home Thursday.
The team was made up of girls from Warwick and Coventry.
