New England turns the corner today and starts a slow process of improving our weather.
The transition to better weather comes with the passage of a bundle of atmospheric energy aloft, promoting development of clouds during the day and leading to scattered showers for the interior of Central and Southern New England from 2 p.m. through the early evening, particularly along and outside of Route 495, so grabbing the ball cap or the umbrella isn't a bad idea.
Clouds, drizzle and patchy fog will fill in overnight tonight, then burn off by midday Tuesday as high pressure - a center of fair weather - takes hold of New England with increasing sunshine and milder temperatures on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
All the while, we'll pay close attention to Hurricane Matthew as he passes over the Bahamas midweek and draws north parallel to the East Coast heading into the weekend.
The question regarding Matthew becomes just how far north he moves before being swept out to sea - for now, we're hopeful to miss the brunt of the storm but still get some weekend rain, but it's too early to say for certain.
