New England is readying for a significant change in the air after a few days of exceptionally pleasant weather.

The recent, delightful feeling has been the result of a dry Canadian airmass, able to cool at night so effectively that temperatures in the North Country of New England dropped all the way into the 30s this morning!

To our west, showers and thunderstorms have been firing across the Great Lakes and represent the leading edge to a new push of warmth and humidity. That said humidity is set to expand into New England in the days ahead. Often, a clash of different air can mean unsettled weather, and we’ll undoubtedly see some of that here at home as the air turns stickier over the weekend.

After another pleasant night for sleeping Friday night, the humidity will slowly build from west to east on Saturday, with scattered showers, downpours and thunder following suit. The scattered showers will start in far Northwestern New England Saturday morning, then develop across the mountains by early afternoon.

The incoming rain is expected to arrive in Southern and Eastern New England by Saturday evening, meaning much of the day will be dry and comfortable in eastern areas.

Behind the scattered showers, humidity is back! Sunday will be sticky with highs in the 80s and scattered afternoon thunderstorms probable. It's estimated that 90 degree high temperatures will likely return early next week.

A classic mid-summer weather pattern is predicted for the remainder of next week into next weekend in our exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast, meaning highs in the 80s with a few days bringing elevated chances for thunder, particularly Tuesday, perhaps Wednesday and again next weekend.
