Child Killed In Western Massachusetts Due to House Fire

A small child has been killed in a house fire in the Western Massachusetts town of Erving.

The State Fire Marshal's office says the young child was killed in the fire early Tuesday morning. Three adults were injured and were taken to the hospital, but the extent of their injuries was unknown.

The identities of the child and the three adults have not been released.

The fire was reported around 3 a.m. Erving Fire Chief Philip Wonkka told The Recorder that three people were already outside when fire crews arrived. He said the fire was so hot that firefighters could not get inside the building.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
