Child Pulled From Boston Pool After Nearly Drowning

A young girl nearly drowned in a Boston pool Friday before a woman jumped in to rescue her.

If not for the quick work of lifeguards and a good Samaritan, the 7-year-old may not have survived.

The child got into trouble and went under in the deepest part of the pool. The water there is 4.5 feet deep.

Lifeguards and the Good Samaritan acted quickly, pulled her out and revived her. She was taken to Boston Children's Hospital. The Department of Conservation & Recreation, which runs the pool, released a statement that reads, in part, "We commend our lifeguards on duty at DCR's Olsen Pool in Hyde Park for their quick actions today. As part of a team, they worked together calmly and efficiently to manage a crisis situation that resulted in the saving of a young child."

Massachusetts State Police are investigating. The child's condition was not immediately clear.
