The home where Lawrence Mongeon lives is also a home day care facility and has been shut down indefinitely, prosecutors said

A Massachusetts man was arrested on a child rape charges at his Brimfield home, which served as a home day care until it was shut down in the wake of the arrest, according to the Hampden District Attorney's Office.

Lawrence Mongeon, 63, was arrested Friday at the residence on Apple Road following an investigation, prosecutors said. He was charged with two counts of aggravated rape of a child, three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and intimidation of a witness.

State police detectives at the Hampden District Attorney's Office were notified of a sexual assault allegation Monday by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. Following an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Mongeon.

The home where Mongeon lives is also a home day care facility and has been shut down indefinitely, the district attorney said.

Mongeon was expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon in Palmer District Court. It's unclear if he has an attorney.

A call to a day care facility listed on a state government website that matches information given by prosecutors went unanswered.

Any parent who thinks their child may have been subjected to abuse at the facility is urged to contact the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families hotline at 1-800-792-5200.
