Low pressure racing eastward along Interstate 90 is bringing a batch of rain and snow into central and southern New England this morning.

With temperatures just warm enough, it is more rain than snow, and where snow is falling, it should mostly melt on impact, with the exception of elevations above 500 feet.

Low pressure moves along the south coast of New England this afternoon with rain and snow expanding northward into most of Vermont, New Hampshire after lunchtime.

In western New England, the rain and snow end before sunset, otherwise it stays wet most of the day with temperatures topping out near 40 degrees.

Rain may end as snow evens out at the coast overnight for a wintry looking sunrise tomorrow.

Temperatures tomorrow morning will be close to 32 degrees, warming up to near 50 degrees with a few breaks of sunshine during the afternoon.

The low-pressure system will intensify in the Gulf of Maine as it slowly progresses to the northeast, resulting in winds from the north gusting past 30 mph keeping a chill in the air into tomorrow night.

The sky should partially clear at night, with colder temperatures in the 20s to low 30s to start our Saturday.

There will be enough instability and moisture around for clouds to quickly develop Saturday with a passing sprinkle or a mountain flurry with a high temperature in the 40s north to low 50s south.

High pressure should move in for an extended period beginning on Sunday, so even though the day likely starts near freezing, we should warm up to the 50s to near 60 degrees.

Similar weather is here for Monday and Tuesday with nighttime low temperature in the 30s, and afternoon highs in the 60s, except cooler near the shore with a local sea breeze.

The next weather system is likely to arrive later Wednesday with low pressure coming up the coast. We should see mostly rain as most of the cold air will have finally left the scene.
