City Approves Barrier in Front of Accident-Prone Home

New Haven, Connecticut, resident Bulent Ozalp is one unlucky landlord.

The New Haven Register reports Ozalp's rental property on Winchester Avenue has been hit by vehicles careening through the Webster Street intersection three times in the past three years.

City Transportation, Traffic and Parking Director Doug Hausladen confirmed Tuesday that a crew will soon begin work on a $3,000 reflective barrier in front of Ozalp's property.

Hausladen says the barrier was approved last fall. But work couldn't begin until the ground had sufficiently thawed.

Ozalp hopes the barrier will help keep him from perpetually having to rebuild the house's facade.

City Engineer Giovanni Zinn also confirmed plans to install an additional raised crosswalk on Webster Street at the road's intersection with the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail.
