Coast Guard Finds Body of Lobsterman Who Fell Overboard

The U.S. Coast Guard and local agences have found the body of a missing lobsterman off Doyle Island, Maine.

Divers recovered the body around 5 p.m. Tuesday, about 200 yards west from where he entered the water.

Coast Guard boats and aircraft searched the waters off Jonesport in Down East Maine after the lobsterman was reported to have fallen overboard.

The distress call was made at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The lobster boat, Marie Louise II, was taken to Station Jonesport for further investigation.

Crews searched 233 square nautical miles.

Search crews included the Maine Marine Patrol, Coast Guard crews from Air Station Cape Cod, Cutter Sanibel and Station Jonesport, the Maine State Police dive team, and the Maine Warden Service dive team. A 29-foot boat from Coast Guard Station Jonesport, along with a Coast Guard HC-144 Ocean Sentry and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod were involved in the search.
