The temperature is up for our Friday, then on the way down tonight and into the weekend.

Low pressure on a front moving across Pennsylvania is bringing a period of showers to much of New England early this morning.

Temperatures are starting in the 30s well north, to near 50 degrees south. Patchy dense fog is present once again.

A cold front passes over New England this morning, but the deep cold air lingers for a few hours, allowing us to maintain warmth through lunchtime in southern New England.

But by afternoon it's cold enough that we have snow showers in the mountains of Vermont, and the wind kicks up as temperatures fall through the 40s in southern New England.

It is a biting cold wind here tonight as high pressure from Canada pushes in, temperatures plummet to the single numbers north and teens to low 20s south.

Wind from the northwest gusting past 30 mph sends the wind chill factor even lower.

Everything is moving fast, so high-pressure moves out to sea tomorrow allowing for the next front to come in during the afternoon with sun giving way to clouds, temperatures in the 20s north and 30s south. It looks like a nice ski day, however travel will go downhill quickly after dark as snow comes in, possibly heavy at times for a few hours in the middle of the night.

It looks like a 2 to 5 inch snowfall, maybe a little more in the Hills, maybe a little less at the coast where it may rain from Boston to Cape Cod. The snow is done by sunrise Sunday with a return to sunshine and high temperature in the 40s.

Next week we are tracking record warmth coming at us from the south later Monday into Tuesday. With a mixture of sun and clouds and showers most days, temperatures in the 50s and 60s.

Wednesday may be a transition day with rain and warm air being replaced by drier and colder air for the second half of the week. But it's a very tough call on exactly what's going to happen late next week, there could be a return to wintry weather by next weekend, if not sooner.
