Committee Renews Probe Into Maine Gov. LePage

The Government Oversight Committee is meeting on Thursday morning in Augusta after having voted to subpoena members of LePage's administration last month

A Maine legislative committee is reconvening to try to find out more about why a private school rescinded a job offer to one of Gov. Paul LePage's political opponents.

The Government Oversight Committee is meeting on Thursday morning in Augusta after having voted to subpoena members of LePage's administration last month.

Good Will-Hinckley Chairman Jack Moore told the committee last month that a threat by the governor to withhold money from the school led its board to back off a job offer to Democratic House Speaker Mark Eves. LePage, a Republican and adversary of Eves, protested the hire.

Subpoenas went to chief legal counsel Cynthia Montgomery and senior policy adviser Aaron Chadbourne. The two are among a host of people scheduled to testify before the committee on Thursday.
