People are remembering a teenager who died after a quadruple shooting in Hartford.
The mother of Usher Hanns tells us her son had just started his senior year at Weaver High School.
“Usher was a good son. He made me smile here. He was smiling. He always made me smile. He’s a joyful kid,” said Georgiann James, the mother of Hanns.
Community activists believe people should be outraged that the shooting took the life of a teenager and they should be demanding change.
Police say the 17-year-old died on Wednesday after being shot on Edgewood Street one week ago.
“What we want to see is some changes. And how to do that we got start within ourselves,” said Rev. Henry Brown of Mothers United Against Violence.
On Sunday, community members gathered for a vigil where the gunfire erupted.

Among the crowd were the boy’s friends and family, including a brother.
“We must help them so that this doesn’t continue to happen,” said Henrietta Beckman of Mothers United Against Violence.
For years, Hanns had been part of Hartford’s Proud Drill Drum & Dance Corp, which has a goal of keeping kids busy and off the street.
The group performed as part of Sunday’s vigil.
Many can’t believe Hanns is gone after the shooting, which also wounded three other people.
“Usher didn’t deserve this. Usher was a very good kid. And whoever did this needs to come forward,” said Terry Starks of Hartford’s Proud.
Community members ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact police.
Hartford’s Proud will be putting on a “Stop the Violence Event” at Dillon Stadium coming up on September 21st.
