Conn. Man Dies in Bermuda Boat Race

A Connecticut man taking part in a Bermuda boat race died of natural causes over the weekend, according to race officials.

The Marion Bermuda Cruising Yacht Race Association confirms Bill Fasnacht of Mystic, Connecticut, died on board the “Legacy V” boat during the race.

Fasnacht fell over unconscious on the boat and attempts to revive him with CPR and a defibrillator were unsuccessful.

Executive Director Allan McLean said in a press release, “We extend our deepest sympathy to Mr. Fasnacht’s wife Betsy Bowman and all of his family, crew mates and friends.”
