Connecticut Man Pleads Guilty in Wife's Slaying

A Connecticut man has pleaded guilty to killing his wife just before his trial was scheduled to start.

The Connecticut Post reports that 54-year-old Thomas Infante, of Shelton, had been charged with murder but pleaded guilty Tuesday to a reduced charge of first-degree manslaughter under the provision of extreme emotional disturbance.

Infante faces up to 25 years in prison at sentencing in June.

Authorities say Infante shot his wife, Lisa, as she lay in bed in September 2015. Two of the couple's four children were home at the time.

Infante fled to Ohio before returning to Connecticut to surrender.

According to court documents, Lisa Infante was having an extramarital affair and she was seeking a divorce.
